I have always been enamored with pregnancy, childbirth, and new life as a young girl as my mother was a Midwife and I used to follow her to the clinic. It was at that time I learned about the wonders of a midwife and the care they provide, which inspired me, and I began to dream of becoming a midwife myself.

I trained and registered as a Midwife in Ghana, West Africa in 2011 and have a total of 9 years hands-on experience in midwifery. I've worked in various hospital settings, specializing in prenatal, birthing suites, postnatal wards, High Dependence Units (HDU), and obstetrics theatres, where I assisted surgeons during obstetrics cases. I also trained new students and staff in newborn resuscitation as part of the Making Every Baby Count Initiative (MEBCI).

In March 2022, I moved to England to take up a nursing appointment. In July 2023, I relocated to Canada to reignite my passion for midwifery. I joined UBC's Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP) in October 2023, one of the few programs available for internationally trained midwives to transition to the Canadian midwifery model and obtain registration.

I successfully completed the program and had my clinical placement at The Midwifery Group, under the mentorship of Laurie-Ann (My Preceptor) and the wonderful team of midwives here. I feel extremely fortunate to be joining TMG as a registered midwife, ready to offer my midwifery care.

What drives my passion for this noble profession is the opportunity to witness the transformative power of pregnancy and birth, the unforgettable sound of a newborn's cry and the indescribable joy reflected in the smile of a satisfied mother. I love getting to know my clients and learning how to care for them in a way that feels meaningful and compassionate.

When I’m not catching babies, I focus on finding balance and recharging. I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new dishes, with a newfound interest in boxing and swimming. I am excited to be practicing as a Canadian midwife at TMG Team 2 and look forward to sharing your pregnancy journey with you and your family.
