Lisa Brooks RCC Registered Clinical Counsellor
Lisa graduated from New York University with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2012. After graduation, Lisa went on to serve the New York City Department of Education, working with high risk youth in public schools throughout the city as part of the special education team. Lisa has worked in both public and private settings with families and their children ages 0-21 with developmental concerns and neurodiverse pediatric populations. She has helped support parents through infancy through the New York and New Jersey state Early Intervention programs, guiding families on how to help infants meet developmental milestones. Lisa’s in-depth knowledge of pediatric brain and social emotional development help inform her practice. Additionally, she has engaged in advanced continuing education in ADHD practices and pediatric anxiety disorders. Through play and art she fosters a trusting connection and safe space for children to share their feelings.
In 2015, after the birth of her daughter, Lisa became passionate about working with the perinatal population. She then went on to pursue significant continuing education in holistic care of the perinatal population. She supports mothers, birthing people, and parents through the challenges of parenthood addressing anxiety, depression and overwhelm. Due to Lisa’s background in occupational therapy, Lisa incorporates a holistic and functional approach to counselling, supporting families and providing strategies to improve quality of life. She is passionate about empowering clients and taking a collaborative approach.
Outside of work, Lisa can be found spending time with her family in nature, standup paddle boarding and cooking.
