I am thrilled and humbled to have joined the amazing midwives on Team 3 alongside the allied healthcare providers and wonderful staff at the Midwifery group as of August 2023! After completing my final year of midwifery school at UBC on the same team, it is so exciting to return as a registered midwife to start serving the community full-time.
My passion for birth and supporting birthing people was solidified during my previous work as an administrator for a local midwifery clinic. I got to see first-hand the amazing impact that midwives had on peoples’ experiences. This feeling was strengthened as I began attending births as a doula in Vancouver, meeting incredible clients as well as other birth workers, many who were passionate about protecting low-intervention birth.
I come from a background in contemporary dance and the performing arts, which has also lent itself to the way I practice Midwifery. I believe in our bodies intuition, strength and resilience as well as the importance of good mental health. Also, I love a good dance party while in labor!
I am humbled to have been raised on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples. As a child of settlers I am continuing to learn about the history of this land, acknowledging that babies have been born here for thousands of years without western medicine into the hands of traditional midwives. Throughout my midwifery education at UBC I served the communities of Vancouver, Victoria and the Fraser Valley.
When I’m not working you can find me in East Van with my husband and our rescue pup Tony. To keep the balance I still dance and teach in the city, am constantly crafting, and love a good lazy morning sleep-in.
